Notes

Fished the Rogue River from Shady Cove to Dodge Bridge under warm, overcast conditions. Water clarity was excellent, with over three feet of visibility, and flows remained on the lower side.

Indicator nymphing with a balanced setup allowed for consistent drift control through deeper runs and tailouts. Most takes were subtle but steady once the correct depth was established.

Fish showed a strong preference for egg patterns despite the clear water conditions. The cotton candy egg pattern consistently produced trout throughout the float, especially in slower seams and softer edges.

Even with increased clarity, fish remained willing to commit to brighter egg presentations, suggesting that visibility did not negatively impact effectiveness.

Based on current conditions, egg patterns—particularly pink and salmon variations—continue to be a reliable option in this section of the Rogue River.

Fly That Produced

This trip confirmed it — fish consistently chose the Cotton Candy egg pattern.
