On paper, the river appeared to be setting up well.
The River's Behavior
Early optimism faded quickly.
The river felt empty despite improved visibility and dropping flows.
Fish showed no urgency to move and offered little indication of presence.
Time on the water did not translate to new information.
The river behaved as though it was still recovering, not ready to give anything back.
What Didn't Work
- Fishing improving water conditions did not change outcomes
- Extended time in promising runs produced no response
- Adjusting pace and approach failed to reveal activity
Effort alone did not earn attention.
Quiet Opportunities
There were few.
The most honest read was recognizing the river was not finished resetting.
